Matt Gedman has been named the 2026 Futures League Manager of the Year! The Bees’ skipper led the team to their first FCBL Championship this summer and won 38 games in the regular season, the most New Britain has in a single season since joining the Futures League.

Gedman guided the Bees to a Futures League single-season franchise record with 38 wins during the regular season and made their fifth playoff appearance in as many years at the helm, culminating in the franchise’s and his first championship in their second straight trip to the best-of-three final round. While Gedman’s position player group included seven .300 hitters who played in at least 15 games throughout the summer, his pitching staff was even better, posting a 3.97 ERA that was more than a half-run better than the closest team. Gedman is only the second repeat Manager of the Year and the first to receive the award with two different organizations, having shared the 2021 honor with the late Pete Wilk of the Vermont Lake Monsters while skippering the Pittsfield Suns.
