Early Scoring Lifts Revolution To Series Victory Over Bees

Ford Extends On-Base Streak, Rosa Goes Yard

(York, PA– August 16, 2018) – The York Revolution (17-18, 49-49) defeated the New Britain Bees (16-18, 49-48) 5-2 at PEOPLEsBank Park on Thursday night to take the rubber game of a three-game midweek series in the White Rose City.

New Britain starting pitcher Devin Burke (2-1) suffered the loss despite a quality start, allowing three runs on four hits (one home run) across six innings pitched, walking four and striking out two. York starting pitcher Troy Terzi registered a no-decision in his professional baseball debut after firing three scoreless innings on just one hit allowed, walking one while striking out four and tossing a wild pitch. Ricardo Gomez closed the ballgame out in the top half of the ninth inning to earn his first save of the season.

York took a quick 2-0 lead versus Burke in the home half of the first by way of a two-out, two run home run off the bat of Telvin Nash that went to the right of the batter’s eye in straightaway centerfield just out of the leaping reach of Darren Ford. The Revolution made it 3-0 in their favor in the bottom of the second when Ryan Dent plated Michael Burgess with a run-scoring double after Burgess led off the frame with a free pass. New Britain got to within 3-2 in the top of the fourth when Jovan Rosa launched a majestic two-run blast over the Arch Nemesis in left with two men down off reliever Jailen Peguero, his second big fly since his return to the Hardware City. After the fans stretched their arms and legs in the bottom of the seventh, the home team added a pair of insurance runs to give the game its final score of 5-2, highlighted by an RBI double from Henry Castillo, with Melky Mesa following right behind with a run-scoring base knock. Six York relievers surrendered just two runs on four hits over six innings on the bump, striking out ten, making a winner out of James Pugliese (1-1). Rosa and Jason Rogers led the way for New Britain with two hits apiece, while Darren Ford’s walk drawn in the top of the third extended his on-base streak to a season-best 16 consecutive games overall.
