(New Britain, Conn., June 21, 2018) – The New Britain Bees today announced the signing of infielder Brock Stassi.
“Brock will be a good addition to our team,” says Bees General Manager Brad Smith. “He adds power and a great glove to our lineup, and also brings more big league experience to our clubhouse.”
Brock Stassi joins the Bees for his Atlantic League debut during his eighth season of professional baseball. Before coming to New Britain, the former big leaguer began the 2018 campaign with Triple-A Rochester of the Minnesota Twins organization, appearing in 32 games.
The 28-year-old began his professional career with the Philadelphia Phillies after being selected in the 33rd round of the 2011 amateur draft. Prior to this season, he spent his entire professional career in the Phillies organization, reaching the Major Leagues in 2017. The slugger appeared in 51 games during his big league career, collecting two home runs, seven RBI, six runs scored, and drawing 12 walks.
His most impressive minor league campaign came in 2015 with Double-A Reading (Phillies), where in 133 games he posted a .300 batting average with 15 home runs, 32 doubles, 90 RBI, 76 runs scored, and a .394 on-base percentage. Over the course of 663 career minor league games, Brock has comprised a .260 batting average with 48 home runs, 103 doubles, 307 RBI, and 278 runs scored.
