(NEW BRITAIN, CT) – The New Britain Bees bounce back and defeat in-state rival Norwich Sea Unicorns, 6-1 at New Britain Stadium on Friday Night.

The Bees bats were buzzing early in this game as they were able to post a three spot in the bottom half of the first. Things all began when Joel Lara (Franklin Pierce/South Boston, MA) ripped a lead-off single followed by a perfectly executed hit-and-run by Tyler Pettorini (Ohio State/Wooster, OH) that put runners on first and third.

Ryan Daniels (UConn/Meriden, CT) hit a sac-fly to left-field that scored Lara, giving the Bees a 1-0 lead. Davis Hanson (Yale/Winston Salem, NC) then belted a double off the right-field wall that scored Lara and Mike Torniero (CCSU/East Haven, CT) giving the Bees an early 3-0 lead. Hanson was thrown out trying to extend his double into a triple to end the inning.

The Bees offense wasn’t done there as they put up another three spot in the bottom of the fourth.

Matt Bradbury (ECSU/Sandy Hook, CT) drove in Hanson with a single to left-field to give the Bees a 4-0 lead. Elliot Good (CCSU/Meriden, CT) joined in on the fun when he hit a ground ball through the hole scoring Jason Claiborn (ECSU/Prospect, CT) giving the Bees a 5-0 lead. Lara notched his third hit of the night when he hit the ball to right-field, scoring Bradbury extending New Britain’s lead to 6-0 through four-innings.

John Kiss (Molloy/Hicksville, NY) was dominant from the start as he was able to punch out four of the first seven batters he faced. Kiss finished his night with five strong innings, four-hits, one-run (zero earned), four-walks and six-strikeouts earning himself the win.

Sebastian Holt (Maine/Woodbridge, CT), Emmett Tolis (Fairfield/Madison, CT) and Colton Shaw (Yale/Richardson, TX) combined for four-innings of two-hit baseball allowing zero runs and striking out five batters.

The Bees are back in action tomorrow night at 6:35 P.M. against the Norwich Sea Unicorns at Dodd Stadium.
