GAME 24: Bees Winning Streak Snapped; Get Shutout By Starfires

(NEW BRITAIN, CT) – The Bees lose 3-0 to the Westfield Starfires, Thursday night at New Britain Stadium ending New Britain’s four game winning streak. 

 

The Bees offense was held to just four hits on the night in which two of them came from Mike Torniero (Central CT St./East Haven, CT). Tyler Pettorini (Ohio State/Wooster, OH) and Matt DeRosa (Quinnipiac/North Haven, CT) each collected a base knock on the night.  

 

John Kiss (Molloy/Hicksville, NY) pitched well for the Bees as the lefty went five strong innings allowing two-unearned-runs on one-hit, two-walks and five-strikeouts. 

 

Matt Goehrig (Post Univ./Clifton, NJ) relieved Kiss, going two-innings allowing one-run on three-hits, two-walks and two-strikeouts. 

 

Elijah Cohen (Colby College/Marblehead, MA) and Benny Wilson (George Washington/Hatboro, PA) combined for two scoreless innings, zero runs, one-hit and four-strikeouts. 

 

The Bees will look to get back on track at home tomorrow, June 24th as they host the Worcester Bravehearts at 6:35 P.M. Two Roads Brewing will be doing a raffle giveaway during the game. Gates will open at 5:35 P.M.
