Bees Give Up 15 Runs and Lose Fourth Straight

NEW BRITAIN, C.T. -- The Bees were unable to slow down the Rox throughout the entire night, losing 15-3.  Brockton used two different innings to score five runs, and never stopped applying pressure on the Bees.

The Rox were able to score a run in each of the first two innings, then exploded for five runs in the bottom of the third.  With runners on first and third base, Buddy Dewaine (Central CT State University) hit a single into left field and scored the first run of the inning for Brockton.  Pat Roche (Boston College) walked with bases loaded to drive in one more run, and then a couple batters later Joel Lara (Franklin Pierce) hit a single right up into center field to bring in two more runs for the Rox.  The following batter, Jacob Studley (Wheaton College), replicated Lara with a single up the middle to score Roche from third base.  Brockton led New Britain 7-0 after three innings.

Derek Tenney (University of Hartford) was able to get the Bees on the board with a single to left field which brought home Noah Martinez (Central CT State University) and cut the Brockton lead to six in the top of the fourth inning.  The Rox answered right back with a run of their own in the fourth inning by a wild pitch that got away from Mike Caruso and made the Brockton lead 8-1.

The seventh inning was another showing of more runs with New Britain tallying two in the top half of the inning.  Danniel Rivera (Southern New Hampshire) hit a hard grounder to left field and scored Zach Donahue (UConn) from third, followed by Noah Martinez lining a ball down the right field line to bring in Griffin Arnone (Elon University).  Brad Lombardi (Boston College) entered the game to pitch for the Bees but would struggle immensely.  After recording one out, Lombardi allowed six hits including a double and a couple wild pitches, giving up five runs and unable to make it out of the seventh inning.  The Rox then led 15-3 after seven innings and would conclude the scoring for the night.

Tim Blaisdell (University of Hartford) made the start for the Bees throwing three innings and giving up seven runs on nine hits.  New Britain threw five other pitchers on the mound throughout the game tonight, including Kyle Brennan (Endicott College) who normally plays as a position player in left field and right field.  Brennan pitched 0.2 innings in the eighth inning and recorded one strikeout.

The Rox pitched Justin Garcia (Roger Williams) who went five innings giving up only four hits and one run while also striking out eight batters.  Garcia received his second win of the season while Joe Ryan (Boston College) and Buddy Dewaine also saw action on the mound tonight.

The Bees drop to 3-9 on the season, and the Rox now sit at .500 with a record of 5-5.  New Britain plays their third game of a four game road trip Sunday afternoon against the Worcester Bravehearts.  These teams met just yesterday when the Bravehearts won 8-5.  First pitch set for 4:00 p.m. from Doyle Field.
