(NEW BRITAIN, CT) – The Bees beat the Bravehearts on Father’s Day 8-2 on an eight-run eighth-inning to win their second straight game at New Britain Stadium.

Brian Hart (Stony Brook/Rosedale, NY) gave the Bees a solid five-innings of work while allowing just two-runs on three-hits while striking out five Worcester hitters, but the Bees couldn’t score any runs for the righty.

The Bravehearts were up 2-0 after Hart was taken out of the game after the fifth.

Ryan Egan (Fordham/Clinton, CT) entered the game for New Britain in the sixth, in which he was able to shutdown the Worcester bats going three-innings of scoreless baseball while striking-out two batters.

Things started to turn the Bees way late in the game when Mike Torniero (CCSU/East Haven, CT) drove in college teammate Jeff Nicol (CCSU/Wolcott, CT) to cut Worcester's lead in half, 2-1.

It didn’t end there when Torniero came around to score on a Worcester error tying the game up at 2-2. Joel Lara (Franklin Pierce/South Boston, MA) scored on a bases-loaded walk from Anthony DePino (Rhode Island/Madison, CT) making it 3-2 New Britain in the eighth.

Tyler Pettorini (Ohio State/Wooster, OH) scored on a pass ball making it 4-2 Bees.

Davis Hanson (Yale/Winston Salem, NC) had an RBI single in which Christian Holmes (Kansas St./Frankfurt, IL) came around to score making it 5-2 New Britain.

C.J. Brito-Trinidad (Bowdoin/South Kent, CT) ripped a single into left-field that scored DePino which made it 6-2. Hanson and Brito-Trinidad would come around to score on two more passballs in the inning giving New Britain an 8-2 lead.

Egan earned the win as he was able to keep New Britain in the game.

Torniero went three-for-three at the plate with one-run and one-run batted in. Brito-Trinidad went two-for-four with one-run and one-run batted in. DePino reached base three times, once via a hit and the other two via the walk.
New Britain will face Worcester again Tuesday, June 21st at 6:35 P.M. after the league-wide scheduled day off for Dollar Dog Night presented by Martin Rosol’s.
