Barnstormers Hold Bees Bats In Check To Even Up Series

Rogers Extends On-Base Streak

(Lancaster, PA– July 7, 2018) – The Lancaster Barnstormers (39-26) defeated the New Britain Bees (34-31) 6-2 at Clipper Magazine Stadium on Saturday night to even up the three-game weekend series at a victory apiece.

New Britain starting pitcher Josh Outman (2-2) was tagged with the loss after surrendering five runs (four earned runs) on six hits in four and two-thirds innings pitched, walking two and striking out three. Lancaster starting pitcher Brooks Hall (6-2) earned the win after allowing a pair of unearned runs on four hits over six innings of work, striking out five and hitting a batter.

Lancaster took a 3-0 lead versus Outman in the bottom half of the third inning by way of a throwing error from Outman on a ground ball from Blake Gailen with the bases loaded that scored the first two runs and an RBI single off the bat of Trayvon Robinson. New Britain cut the deficit to 3-2 in the top of the fifth by way of an opposite-field run-scoring double to right by Darren Ford that plated Vince Conde and a sacrifice fly produced by Brock Stassi that allowed Keith Ezersky to cross the plate. Lancaster answered right back in the home half of the frame with two more runs to extend their lead to 5-2 and closed out the scoring in the bottom of the eighth when K.C. Hobson launched a leadoff solo home run to right field to give the ballgame its final score of 6-2. In his final turn at the plate on the evening, 2018 Liberty Division All-Star Jason Rogers laced a clean single to extend his on-base streak to a team-best 19 consecutive games overall.
