The Bees: New Britain concluded the first half at home with Bridgeport, and will begin the second half at home with Somerset. Conor Bierfeldt totaled 4 hits in yesterday’s doubleheader, including a 3-3 performance in game 2. James Skelton and Craig Maddox both reached career milestones in game 2. It was Skelton’s 1,000th career game, and Maddox notched his 700th career hit with an RBI single in the 1st inning.
The Opposition: Somerset ended their first half in Lancaster, and will begin their second half at New Britain. The Patriots have lost 4 of their last 6 games, including a series loss to the Barnstormers. Regardless of the recent record, Kyle Roller has been swinging a hot bat for the Patriots, going 8-16 with 3 home runs and 11 RBI in his last 5 games.
Starting Pitchers – New Britain: RHP Kyle Simon (4-5, 4.64) | Somerset: LHP Rick Teasley (7-1, 2.55)
Key to the Game – Rematch with Teasley: Somerset starting pitcher Rick Teasley faced New Britain in Somerset on June 23, two starts ago. He is bound to be familiar with the Bees offense, as they totaled 13 hits off of him in his 5 innings of work. Those 13 hits were the most hits he has given up all season by a significant margin, the previous high being 8 against Lancaster. The Bees would go on to win that contest 5-4. Look for New Britain to kick off the second half of their season by continuing their success against Teasley, making him uncomfortable on the mound at a road ballpark.
Broadcast: The Bees’ Official YouTube Channel (youtube.com/newbritainbees) and Facebook Live (facebook.com/newbritainbees), starting at 6:20 P.M.
Song of the Day: Waterdown - Round Two
