The Bees: James McOwen is off to a scorching start to his Bees’ career. The native of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida and former sixth round draft pick of the Seattle Mariners in 2007 is hitting .600 (6-10) since joining the Bees with three RBIs and a run scored.

The Opposition: John Brownell, who will be the Ducks’ starting pitcher in the first game of tonight’s doubleheader, has been one of Long Island’s most consistent starters all season. The right-hander has allowed three runs or less while tossing at least seven innings in each of his past four starts (3-0, 2.47 ERA during that stretch).

Game 1: New Britain- RHP Kyle Simon (5-3, 2.73) | Long Island- RHP John Brownell (7-3, 2.91)
Game 2: New Britain- LHP Anthony Marzi (1-0, 3.03) | Long Island - LHP Darin Downs (8-5, 3.60)

Key to the Games: Series win- Since the beginning of the second half on July 4th, the Bees have yet to win a series (0-2 with two splits). A win in either game of the tonight’s doubleheader will guarantee the Bees a series win, which might be the boost the team needs to pick up further series wins in the second half.
