Revs Sweep Bees In Nutmeg State For Second Time In Last Two Weeks

Rademacher Singles And Walks In Three Plate Appearances

(New Britain, CT – August 4, 2019) – The York Revolution (18-5, 52-40) defeated the New Britain Bees (7-15, 42-49) 10-1 at New Britain Stadium on Sunday afternoon to complete a three-game weekend series sweep in the Constitution State.

New Britain starting pitcher Devin Burke (1-5) was tagged with the loss after surrendering six runs on six hits (one home run) in six innings pitched, walking two and striking out three while also tossing a wild pitch, hitting a batter, and committing a balk. York starting pitcher Dan Minor (7-5) was victorious for the visitors, allowing just an unearned run on two hits in eight innings of work, striking out five in the process.

York jumped out in front 3-0 versus Burke in the top half of the fourth by way of back-to-back run-scoring doubles produced by Angelys Nina and Telvin Nash, immediately followed by an RBI base knock from Isaias Tejeda. New Britain cut the deficit to 3-1 just one half-inning later when Jason Rogers lifted a sacrifice fly to right field that allowed Bijan Rademacher to cross the plate after he reached base due to a fielding error committed by Revolution shortstop Alvaro Rondon with one man down. The next batter was Jonathan Galvez, and Minor struck out the 2019 Liberty Division All-Star swinging as he was representing the tying-run at home plate, part of a stretch in which the right-hander erased 16 consecutive hitters and 17 of the final 18 Bees he faced in rather dominant fashion. The Revolution bats continued to sizzle in the sixth and seventh innings as York scored seven more times to give the game its final score of 10-1. The New Britain dynamic duo out of the bullpen in Jose Rosario and Jim Fuller continued to open eyes as they combined to fire two scoreless innings while striking out a pair. Rademacher and Mike Carp each had one of the two hits in the ballgame en route to the loss. Photo provided courtesy of Meaghan O’Donoghue.
