Bees Comeback Falls Just Short As Revolution Hang On For Victory

Three Hits Apiece For James And Jackson

(New Britain, CT – August 2, 2019) – The York Revolution (16-5, 50-40) defeated the New Britain Bees (7-13, 42-47) 6-4 at New Britain Stadium on Friday evening in the opener of a three-game weekend series in the Nutmeg State.

New Britain starting pitcher David Roseboom (0-1) was tagged with the loss after surrendering five runs on nine hits (two home runs) in four innings pitched, walking two and striking out three. In his Atlantic League of Professional Baseball debut, York starting pitcher Joe Jones registered a no-decision, allowing two runs on seven hits in four and one-third innings of work, walking three while striking out one. Jameson McGrane closed the ballgame out for his 13th save in as many opportunities on the season.

York took a 1-0 lead versus Roseboom just four batters into the contest when Isaias Tejeda plated Justin Trapp with a sacrifice fly after Trapp gave the keynote with a single right back through the originator. The Revolution made it 3-0 in their favor in the top half of the second inning with Trapp at it once again as he lifted a two-run home run off the scoreboard in left centerfield for his fourth roundtripper of the campaign, all coming at the hands of the Bees pitching staff. The visitors took a commanding 5-0 advantage in the fourth with a familiar face doing the honors as former New Britain infielder Angelys Nina cracked a two-run tater to the opposite-field in right for his third big fly of the campaign. The boys from the Hardware City cut the deficit to 5-2 in the bottom of the fifth courtesy of a run-scoring base knock produced by Jonathan Galvez and an RBI double to left center off the bat of Mike Carp. The Bees got to within 5-4 in the last of the sixth by way of a Jared James infield single that scored Zach Collier who led off the frame with a bunt base hit and a Bijan Rademacher double play with the bases loaded that enabled Rando Moreno to cross the plate after he drew a walk earlier in the rally. The home team made a threat in the last of the seventh as the first two batters in Carp and Ryan Jackson singled, but no more runs would cross the plate on the night for New Britain as the York relief quartet of winning pitcher Cesar Cabral (3-1), Julio Perez, Josh Judy, and McGrane fired four scoreless innings while the Bees finished the night 2-17 with runners in scoring position, leaving 12 men on base in the process.
