Bees Defeat Barnstormers To Get Back On Winning Track

Seven Strong Innings From Friedrich, Rademacher Goes Deep Once Again

(New Britain, CT – June 7, 2019) – The New Britain Bees (21-18) defeated the Lancaster Barnstormers (15-22) 5-2 at New Britain Stadium on Friday night in the opener of a three-game weekend series in the Constitution State.

New Britain starting pitcher Christian Friedrich (3-1) picked up the victory after allowing just two runs on six hits (one home run) in seven innings pitched, walking one while striking out six and tossing a wild pitch. Lancaster starting pitcher Kyle Davies (3-2) was tagged with the loss, surrendering four runs on nine hits (one home run) in seven innings of work, walking one and striking out four. Jose Rosario fired a clean top half of the ninth inning with a pair of strikeouts to notch his third save of the season.

Lancaster went ahead 1-0 just three batters into the ballgame when Dan Gamache hustled down the line from third base on a wild pitch thrown by Friedrich after Gamache tripled with one man down. The Bees tied the score at one in the home half of the third thanks to an RBI double off the bat of Alexi Amarista that plated Logan Moore after the New Britain backstop reached by way of a two-out base knock. Trailing 2-1 in the bottom of the fourth, the boys from the Hardware City got even as Bijan Rademacher launched a solo home run to right off Davies, his fourth big fly of the campaign and third in his last five games played. New Britain went ahead for good 4-2 in the bottom of the sixth when Jared James drove home Jason Rogers and Jonathan Galvez with a clutch two-out, two-run single. The Bees added an insurance run in the bottom of the eighth to give the game its final score of 5-2 as Deibinson Romero cracked an RBI double into the gap in left centerfield that allowed Rademacher to cross the plate, and the bullpen did the rest as the duo of Jim Fuller and Rosario did not allow a run in two innings of relief, striking out three. James led the way with three hits on the evening. Photo provided courtesy of Kim DeGasero.
