Former Major Leaguer Rogers Joins Bees

(New Britain, Conn., May 17, 2018) – The New Britain Bees today announced the signing of infielder Jason Rogers.

“Jason will be a great addition to this team,” says Bees General Manager Brad Smith. “He brings a power bat to the lineup and has proven successful at many professional levels during his career.”

Jason Rogers comes to New Britain for his Atlantic League debut during his ninth season of professional baseball after being acquired in a trade with the Kansas City T-Bones of the American Association. In 2017, the former Major Leaguer began the season with Triple-A Indianapolis of the Pittsburgh Pirates organization, appearing in 69 games and posting a .289 batting average with nine home runs, 34 RBI and 35 runs scored. He would then make his way over to Japan to play for the Hanshin Tigers of the Japan Central League, appearing in 40 games and collecting a .253 batting average with five home runs and 23 RBI.

The 30-year-old began his professional career when he was drafted by the Milwaukee Brewers in the 32nd round of the 2010 MLB amateur draft. After five successful campaigns in the Brewers organization, he made his big league debut in 2014. Rogers spent two seasons in the Majors with Milwaukee from 2014-15, and with the Pittsburgh Pirates in 2016. In 117 career big league games, the slugger owns a .258 average with four home runs, 18 RBI, and 24 runs scored.

Over the course of 760 minor league games, Jason has comprised a .284 batting average with 89 home runs, 428 RBI, and 395 runs scored.
