Bees Add Outfielder

(New Britain, Conn., July 21, 2019) – The New Britain Bees today announced the signing of outfielder Zach Collier.

“Zach is a veteran of this league and adds a solid lefthanded bat to our lineup,” says Bees General Manager Brad Smith. “We look forward to his contributions to our team.”

Zach Collier joins the Bees during his second season in the Atlantic League and 11th of professional baseball. Prior to heading to the Hardware City this year, he split time between Double-A Harrisburg and Single-A Auburn of the Washington Nationals organization.

The 28-year-old was originally drafted by the Philadelphia Phillies in the first round (34th overall) of the 2008 MLB amateur draft. He spent six seasons in the Phillies organization prior to making his Atlantic League debut with the Lancaster Barnstormers in 2015. During that campaign with Lancaster, the outfielder appeared in 63 games and posted a .277 batting average with 25 extra-base hits, 34 RBI, and 44 runs scored. From 2016-2019, he would spend time with the Nationals, reaching as high at the Triple-A level.

In 928 career minor league games, Zach owns a .247 batting average with 162 doubles, 56 triples, 51 home runs, 339 RBI, 451 runs scored, and 127 stolen bases.
