(New Britain, Conn) – Six pitchers and three position players were selected by the Futures League to represent the Bees in the 2025 All-Star Game at Polar Park in Worcester on Tuesday evening.
Starting with the pitchers, Garret Garbinski(UConn/Clinton, CT) takes his perfect 0.00 ERA to Worcester, as the right hander has struck out 26 hitters in 20 scoreless innings entering play on Saturday. His eight games started leads the Bees in 2025.
Joe DeRienzo (Salve Regina/Trumbull, CT) has done a great job all season limiting hard contact all year, allowing just 13 hits in 21 innings entering Saturday. The right hander has a 0.83 ERA in 21 innings over five appearances this summer.
Carson Parrott (Tennessee Tech/Monroe, TN) brings his team high 31 strikeouts to Polar Park. The right hander has split time between the rotation and the bullpen and has a 2.32 ERA on the summer in 31 innings.
Evan Mello (Wheaton/New Bedford, MA) is a part of a trio in the back end of the bullpen that has been one of the best in the Futures League. The left hander has a 1.37 ERA in 16 games out of the ‘pen with 27 strikeouts and four saves.
Zach Zajac (RPI/Cromwell, CT) has also been getting a majority of the save opportunities, as the right hander also has four saves amongst his 14 appearances. He hasn’t allowed a run since June 15 and has a 2.55 ERA on the summer.
Adam Merritt (UMass/West Hartford, CT) has been arguably the best reliever in New Britain all year, as the right hander has a 0.54 ERA in 16.2 innings over 11 appearances, striking out 25 hitters compared to just five walks.
Switching gears to the position players, Colin Crowley (Winthrop/Southington, CT) heads to Worcester with a team high 44 hits entering play on Saturday. The third baseman is hitting .319 with 10 extra base hits across 37 games and has five games with at least three knocks.
Brennan Staubley (Southern CT State/Plainville, CT) has recorded a hit in 29 of his 35 games played entering Saturday while playing both left field and behind the dish. His .289 average is good for third on the team among players with at least 50 at bats this summer.
Lastly, Cam Righi (UConn/Wethersfield, CT) gets the nod having blasted three of New Britain’s five home runs this summer. Playing right field, first base and catching, the incoming UConn Husky also has nine stolen bases on the season.
The 2025 Futures League Home Run Derby will be Monday, July 21, at 6:30 p.m. at Fitton Field, home of the Worcester Bravehearts. Julius Rosado (Rutgers/South River, NJ) will represent the Bees. The incoming Scarlet Knight is still looking for his first home run of the summer, but has shown flashes of his power at New Britain Stadium on numerous occasions.
The All-Star Game is set for Tuesday, July 22, at 7:30 p.m. at Polar Park, home of the Boston Red Sox Triple-A affiliate Worcester Red Sox. The game will be broadcasted on NESN.
