The Bees: New Britain is fresh off a home series win against Somerset to begin the second half and will be playing their first road series of the second half. Jovan Rosa hit a 3 run home run in the first inning in their last game on Wednesday to give the Bees the early lead. After Somerset battled back to tie the game late, Craig Maddox drove in Tsuyoshi Fujiwara in the bottom of the 9th to give New Britain their third walkoff win of the season.
The Opposition: Bridgeport began the second half of their season at home with a 4 game series against York. The two clubs would split the series at 2 games apiece, with the last game going to York. Their contest was only one of two played yesterday after Sugar Land and Southern Maryland’s game was postponed. D’Arby Myers has been making noise at the plate, putting up a .438 batting average in his last 5 games with a home run.
Starting Pitchers – New Britain: LHP Nick Greenwood (0-1, 4.15) | Bridgeport: RHP Cory Riordan (6-3, 3.35)
Key to the Game – Extra rest: New Britain and Somerset were the only two teams with a scheduled off day yesterday. Bridgeport may not have had to travel since they are in the middle of a home stand, but they played the final game of their series against York last night while the Bees got some extra rest. Look for New Britain to use this extra rest to their advantage against Bridgeport, allowing their rejuvenated senses to help carry them to a victory.
Broadcast: The Bees’ Official YouTube Channel (youtube.com/newbritainbees) and Facebook Live (facebook.com/newbritainbees), starting at 7:00 P.M.
Song of the Day: Landon Pigg - Last Stop
