LEVERETT LOOKS TO GET BEES EVEN IN SERIES WITH BLUEFISH

Series: The Bluefish took the series opener- and 8-7 edge in the season series- with a 10-3 in last night’s game. The teams wrap up this series Sunday afternoon at 1:12PM.

The Bees: Jarret Leverett will make his second start of the season against the Bluefish. In his first start against Bridgeport on July 10, the left-hander allowed just two runs in six innings in the Bees’ 5-1 loss at home. In two appearances overall against the Bluefish, Leverett has pitched to a 2.94 ERA (three earned runs in 9.2 innings).

The Opposition: First baseman Jose Cuevas continued what has already been a strong season against the Bees last night with a 3-3 night with three runs scored. The Bronx, NY native is hitting .345 (19-55) with three home runs, 11 RBIs, and ten runs scored in 14 games against New Britain so far in 2016.

Key to the Game: Fishin’ for a win- After last night’s loss in the series opener, the Bees have dropped four straight four straight games at the Ballpark at Harbor Yard, and have won there just twice all season. The Bees will have to find a way to right the ship on both sides of the ball if they are to beat Bridgeport and put an end to the losing streak at Harbor Yard.
