BEES RETURN HOME, OPEN SERIES WITH BARNSTORMERS

In 140 Characters or Less: The Bees return home for the first time in over a week to take on the Lancaster Barnstormers! First pitch 6:35PM!

Series: New Britain and Lancaster enter this four-game series 5-5 over the first ten games against each other. After tonight’s game, the teams square off in a split doubleheader tomorrow, and end the series on Thursday night.

The Bees: Coming off the All-Star break, the Bees were swept on the road against the York Revolution, dropping the team below .500 for the first time since June 30 (32-33). The Bees are 3-7 in the second half, 4.5 games in back of Long Island.

The Opposition: The Barnstormers have opened the second half of the season with a 4-6 record, most recently dropping two of three to Southern Maryland at home this past weekend. Overall, Lancaster is 38-41 on the season.

Key to the Game: Short memories- The first series post All-Star break did not go as planned for the Bees as the team dropped three straight to the York Revolution on the road. The off-day yesterday allowed the Bees to put the York series behind them and set their focus on getting back on track at home against Lancaster.

Bees Buzz: In his first start of the season on July 8, Sean Gleason allowed just two runs in four innings of work in the Bees’ 5-2 win over Bridgeport…Along with reaching base in 21 consecutive games overall, Craig Maddox has is also working on a six-game hitting streak during which he is batting .321 (9-28)…Jon Griffin is hitting .400 (14-35) with a home run and nine RBIs in nine games…
