BEES LOOK FOR SERIES WIN VS. BLUEFISH BEFORE BREAK

In 140 Characters or Less: The Bees look to take three of four from the Bluefish in the final game before the All-Star break! First pitch 1:35PM!

Series: It took 11 innings and 11 runs for the Bluefish to win their first game of the series- and first game at New Britain Stadium- in last night’s 11-8 win over the Bees. After today’s finale, the intrastate rivals next face off July 22-24 at Bridgeport.

Promotions: Sunday is Hardware City Family Fun-Day! New Britain Stadium is the place to bring the whole family on Sundays! Prior to the game, fans will be invited onto the field for an autograph session with the Bees. After the game, kids (and kids at heart) can take the field and Run the Bases!

The Bees: Over his last six games against the Bluefish, Jon Jones has caused significant problems for their pitchers. In those six games, the centerfielder is hitting .500 (10-20) with four extra-base hits (two doubles, triple, home run), six RBIs, and three runs scored. He also has stolen three bases in that span.

The Opposition: Welington Dotel has been a tough out for Bees’ pitchers so far in this series. In the first three games, the former Seattle Mariners’ farmhand went 6-13 (.462) with three RBIs, a walk, and two runs scored, including a big two-run triple in extra innings last night.

Starters
New Britain- LHP Jarret Leverett (2-3, 2.77) | Bridgeport- RHP Mike Antonini (3-6, 2.66)

Key to the Game: Length from Leverett- The Bees worked through four relievers in last night’s 11 inning loss to Bridgeport. Enter Leverett, who is making his second start since entering the Bees’ rotation. He worked five innings and allowed one run in his start on July 1 vs. Southern Maryland, and has three other appearances in relief of at least three innings. The Bees could certainly use a long outing from Leverett against the Bluefish to give the team’s relievers a chance to recover from last night.

Bees Buzz: Bees’ starter Jarret Leverett has appeared in one game this season against the Bluefish, with the lefty tossing 3.2 innings and allowing one run on four hits in relief in the Bees’ 12-6 loss on June 12 at Bridgeport…Of James Skelton’s three three-hit games this season, two have come against the Bluefish, and overall is batting .395 (15-38) against Bridgeport this season…Michael Crouse’s 27th stolen base last night put back into sole possession of first in the league in that category (27-32 on the season)…
