Bees Honored With Outstanding Club Community Service Award

(New Britain, Conn., October 15, 2018) – The Atlantic League of Professional Baseball (ALPB) today announced that Bees have been honored with the Outstanding Club Community Service Award for their work with the Beautiful Lives Project during the 2018 season.

“It’s a great honor to be presented with this award from the Atlantic League,” says Bees General Manager Brad Smith. “We love partnering with a tremendous organization such as the Beautiful Lives Project, and it’s fantastic to see all these individuals participating in a unique experience of playing on the field with the Bees.”

During the 2018 season, the Bees partnered with the Beautiful Lives Project to give participants the opportunity to play ball on the field at New Britain Stadium with Bees players and coaches. These events we hosted by the Bees at least once a month.

The Beautiful Lives Project gives people with disabilities the opportunity to actively participate in activities and events that may not have been available to them previously due to physical or facility limitations. They work with communities, organizations, groups, and individuals to create, build, and expand programs, ensuring an immersive and enriching experience for all participants. These programs include athletics, performing arts, visual arts, nature and wellness. They also work with communities to remove obstacles and impediments from facilities and make them more accessible for all their citizens.
